Vienna Restaurant Week provides a late summer overture for an autumnal series of culinary highlights. Between August 28 and September 3, 2017 numerous top restaurants in the city will be offering à la carte treats at highly attractive prices: the ideal opportunity to try out new locations and cooking styles.

Gault&Millau Genuss-Messe

Visitors to the 2017 Gault&Millau Genuss-Messe food festival at the Kursalon in the Stadtpark can look forward to a full spread – from classic Austrian cuisine to the culinary avant garde. 100 award-winning chefs and 50 winegrowers will be showcasing their products and skills at the event. One of the top attractions is the show kitchen where the city’s leading gourmets including Heinz Reitbauer (Steirereck im Stadtpark), Silvio Nickol (Silvio Nickol Gourmet Restaurant Palais Coburg) and Konstantin Filippou (Restaurant Konstantin Filippou and O Boufés) share tips and tricks with onlookers.

Wiener Wiesn Fest

Things at Wiener Wiesn Fest in the Prater have a distinctly traditional Alpine flavor. All nine of Austria’s federal provinces are represented on the Kaiserwiese meadow, with customs and specialties from each of them to enjoy against the backdrop of live music in three marquees and five Alpine huts.

Vienna Escargot Festival

The Viennese escargot has experienced a major renaissance in recent years, thanks to the efforts of the ambitious Viennese farmer and snail farmer par excellence Andreas Gugumuck. Some of the nation’s top chefs will show off their creative recipes featuring this delicious ingredient at the Vienna Escargot Festival, an event that involves 80 restaurants in the city.

Wiener Weinwandertag

When the leaves start to change color and the grapes are ready to harvest, the capital’s vineyards are at their prettiest and the Wiener Weinwandertag routes provide an excellent opportunity to explore around 25 kilometers of winegrowing country on the city’s outskirts. Producers and traditional Heuriger wine taverns offer snack stops along the way where participants can take a break and enjoy delicious Viennese wine and grape juice. All of the start and finish points are accessible via eco-friendly public transport.
