Austrian artist Mavi Phoenix has just shared the iconic video for her single « Ibiza« – a new anthem for troubled relationships and I wanted to get this to right away! Although Mavi herself describes the video as “self-explanatory”, Phoenix delivers her signature, provocative flow all from the seat of a car, spinning lines like “You’re all around every time I go out now, and I’m down everytime that I meet ‘ya,” it’s clear that these words come truly from the heart.

Iconic ‘Ibiza’ video
Austria’s Mavi Phoenix will be sharing the video for her latest single, ‘Ibiza’ which follows on from the release of recent singles ‘Los Santos’, ‘Yellow’ , ‘Bite’ , ‘Trends’ and acclaimed debut EP ‘Young Prophet’ (2017). Last month, as a way to lash out against the toxic culture of internet mob mentality, Mavi Phoenix produced the single ‘Los Santos’ within a day, shot a video and dropped it spontaneously. The song caught the attention of many, including platinum selling Italian DJ/Producer Crookers who made their own distinct version of it. ‘Los Santos’ and ‘Ibiza’ will form part of Mavi Phoenix’s highly anticipated ‘Young Prophet II’ EP, scheduled to be released October 5.
Mavi Phoenix has a fast-growing fanbase, boasting over 4.5 million streams on Spotify, and has performed at multiple European festivals already, including The Great Escape, Primavera Sound, Roskilde and Melt!. Her work so far has caught the attention of international tastemakers such as i-D, Nylon, The Line of Best Fit, The Fader, Highsnobiety, Red Bull Music, Clash Mag, Wonderland Mag, Majestic Casual and COLORS, who hosted a performance of her single ‘Yellow’.
The 22-year old Mavi Phoenix is originally from Linz, Austria and now living in Vienna but is currently on the road and will be embarking on her first European headline tour this Autumn. Mavi Phoenix began singing, rapping and producing at just 11 years old and in that time has developed her own distinct style of music production. While Mavi Phoenix’s sound is very diverse, she maintains her own unique style of underground pop, filling her tracks with infectious beats, auto-tuned vocals and clever word-play. This is a musician who encourages honesty and individuality, in both life and music, which is wonderfully refreshing in today’s age.
The official video for “Ibiza” directed by Cristina Salgar is a wild walkthrough echoic of the weekend; sandy beaches, neon-lit nightlife, aquatic life, streetlight ghosts and intimately affectionate moments all sculpted into one kaleidoscopic collage of thrills, lights and exotic nights.
For ‘Ibiza’, this multi-talented artist really tells it like it is, getting to the nitty gritty of something that we can all relate to – trust, heartbreak and rocky relationships. ‘Ibiza’ is probably Mavi’s most intimate song so far, providing sound and story for difficult relationships. Speaking about ‘Ibiza’ Mavi Phoenix says, “It’s my soundtrack for when you realize that you don’t fit together, but it’s super hard to let go and you get stuck in reminiscence.”
