Australian new-wave quintet Gold Fields will be releasing their latest enchanting EP, ‘Glow’ on 9th November via Haven Sounds, which will also be available as a limited-edition 12” vinyl. The EP will precede the band’s forthcoming sophomore album ‘Dalawa’ which is currently in production and expected sometime in the Spring of 2019.

Between Spotify and YouTube alone, the band have conjured up over an impressive 13 million streams and have been a prominent component and staple to Australia’s electronic and electro-pop communities, having received vast support from the likes of MTV, Consequence of Sound, EARMILK, Triple J, Alternative Press, Baeble Music, PopMatters and more.

They have also been featured on the esteemed Jimmy Kimmel Live! Show, have won Album of the Year for their 2013 debut LP ‘Black Sun’, and can proudly say that ‘Black Sun’s lead single, ‘Treehouse’ is still the most spun song on Triple J Unearthed.

Gaining a considerable following in their hometown, as well as in the UK, the band have appeared at several widely celebrated events and festivals such as SXSW, Coachella, BIGSOUND, Culture Collide Fest, LAUNCH, Parklife Fest, Valley Fiesta and more, as well as performing alongside artists Miami Horror, Empire of the Sun, St. Lucia, Capital Cities and Diamond Rings, to name a few.

Forming in Ballarat, Victoria, Melbourne-based five piece Gold Fields consists of talented musicians Mark Robert Fuller, Vinci Andanar, Luke Peldys, Rob Clifton and Ryan D’Sylva who together create the sheer overwhelming force behind the band’s enticing sound.

Influenced by an array of eclectic characteristics, Gold Field personally take inspiration from such acts as Mount Kimbie, Jamie xx, David Bowie, Four Tet and Tame Impala – although their own brand of hypnotic, and enchanting ‘80s or new-wave appeal may render them more similarly closer to artists like The 1975, Glass Animals, M83 or Walk The Moon for their ability to contrast yesteryear elements of the ‘80s into a clear, modernized and dreamlike aura of resonance, creating something entirely of their own precise emotional response.

Gold Field’s new EP ‘Glow’, is a journey of sound that does exactly that. Glowing with retro synths, layered with emotive vocal melodies and pulsing with infectious, crisp beats, ‘Glow’s tracks could fill out any dancefloor, while still maintaining a depth and edge that sets the band apart from other indie-pop stars.

‘Solar’ is a sultry, churning indie-dance track with an infectious bassline and layered drum-beats that hypnotise and sparkle, weaving in and out of attitude-filled vocals while ‘Waterfall’ is a retro-inspired number steeped in old-school synth and edited vocal samples.

The title track of the EP oozes with a bittersweetness that fits perfectly with our growing disillusionment with the modern world as a human race, reaching out for us to reconnect with our hearts: “If you feel it, show me your love / Show me a light / Reignite.”

On their brand new EP, Gold Fields comments, “This is definitely the record we wanted to make. In a way, it made itself over the space of four years, starting at a beach house in Ocean Grove, into our bedrooms and a studio when we needed it.

It was amazing to have Tony Espie (The Avalanches) mixing the record. We started out by just experimenting and we let the sounds and the music take us on a bit of a journey. It’s been a real pleasure to create this and we can’t wait for the people like us out there to hear it. ”

Both the upcoming EP and LPs were recorded and produced by the legendary Tony Espie (The Avalanches, Cut Copy, Architecture in Helsinki) with engineering duties handled by experienced producers Malcolm Besley (City Calm Down) and Shaun Fuller, respectively.

Alongside Gold Fields’ storm of upcoming excitement, they have also planned release parties planned for Melbourne, Sydney, Los Angeles, New York and Toronto. An Australian headline tour and DJ sets will follow in early 2019.
