ADB SAFEGATE will demonstrate at inter airport Europe 2017 (Munich, 10-13 October) how airports can handle far more air traffic without the need to build costly new infrastructure. By integrating tower, airfield and gate systems, airports can substantially reduce the amount of time aircraft spend on the ground, all while maintaining the highest safety. Time can be saved at every stage of an aircraft’s airport journey, from final approach to landing, while taxiing, during the gate turnaround process, to departure.
ADB SAFEGATE shows airports why it’s time to integrate
Airport Performance describes how all parts of an airport can work tightly together to multiply an airport’s capacity and shorten aircraft turnaround time
ADB SAFEGATE quantified the likely time and cost benefits for airports and airlines. One example shows that thousands of hours of aircraft taxi time can be saved per year at a typical airport, freeing up vital capacity to handle far more flights.
“As airports continue to face ever-growing traffic volumes, their available capacity is coming under intense pressure. At the same time, they must strive to minimize the amount of time aircraft spend on the ground when they are not earning revenue for the airlines. Both challenges can be met by integrating tower, airfield and gate systems,” says Christian Onselaere, CEO, ADB SAFEGATE. “While full end-to-end integration will achieve the highest operational efficiency, even partially combining some systems will bring substantial gains and lay the foundation for total integration.”
ADB SAFEGATE’s stand (stand 1420, Hall A5) at inter airport Europe 2017 will feature a memorable virtual reality demonstration bringing Airport Performance to life. Visitors will be able to take the view of air traffic controllers and pilots to see for themselves how integrated systems and new technologies, such as follow-the-greens, can simplify airport operations.
Airport efficiency starts by understanding every aspect of the elements that cut congestion, decrease downtime and boost safety. With one of the industry’s most extensive airport operations product and service portfolios, backed by deep operational know-how, ADB SAFEGATE is well positioned to help airports achieve the necessary integration. The company applies an operational and consultative approach that analyzes an airport’s current situation and its future aims. This then leads to a solution that can boost aircraft movements safely and optimize airport efficiency.
Highlights from ADB SAFEGATE include:
- The launch of an enhanced Safedock visual docking guidance system that integrates docking, gate and apron control, surveillance and monitoring systems to improve the efficiency and accuracy of aircraft gate arrival, turnaround and departure. Safedock also helps to enhance apron situational awareness and safety. The system is built on the experience and expertise of ADB SAFEGATE, which has supplied more than 7,000 docking systems worldwide.
- Leading LED technology, which is deployed across airfields globally with more than 1.2 m LED fixtures installed. ADB SAFEGATE has supplied two-thirds of the LED systems at more than 700 airports, showing how airports everywhere have switched to this energy efficient lighting technology. ADB SAFEGATE offers the only full LED portfolio of lights and visual aids proven to deliver energy and other cost savings adding up to millions of euros annually.
- ADB SAFEGATE is demonstrating its new Pushback Support Tool that simplifies air traffic control (ATC) workloads and enhances airport safety and efficiency. The tool automatically suggests the optimum aircraft pushback routine, monitors the pushback procedure and warns ATC of potential conflicts with other aircraft or vehicles in the apron area.
- Also, new from ADB SAFEGATE is A-Lytics, a data analysis solution that provides airport managers with new insight into how well operations are running. The system reveals operational performance related to the airfield, tower and gate, such as aircraft docking times and on-time turnaround performance for departure. Airport managers can now more easily see and fully understand what is happening, how they can improve efficiency and what solutions can be implemented to increase the airport’s performance.
