From Tuscany to the northern tip of Morocco and the Turkish coast, the range of Spring-Summer flights on offer departing from Toulouse is expanding further, following an exceptional 2017. With spring on its way, here’s everything you need to know to get ready for your trips.
With long-haul destinations, top European tourist destinations, and sun-drenched Mediterranean beaches, there’s something for everyone this spring at Toulouse-Blagnac airport.
First recommendation: Italy. Volotea is launching two new destinations departing from Toulouse: Pisa*, famous for its leaning tower, is the perfect beginning to a trip around Tuscany. Starting from 12 April, it will be served twice a week (Wednesdays, Thursdays or Sundays, depending on the time of year). Further south, Volotea will let you discover Catania, the ancient Sicilian city at the foot of Mt. Etna, with 1 to 2 flights a week depending on the time of year (Wednesdays and Fridays), from 13 April.
Germania is heading south to explore the Moroccan shores of Tangier, an ancient city built on the Strait of Gibraltar, from 2 July, with 2 flights a week, on Mondays and Thursdays.
Another destination with plenty of sunshine: Bodrum, a beach resort on the Turkish coast has a well-established reputation, and FTI Voyages will be connecting it to the Pink City once a week (Sundays, from 15 to 29 April; and Fridays, from 6 July to 31 August).
XL Airways invites you to spend your holiday on the island of Réunion, by booking your ticket on the flight that, since October, has been scheduled for every Tuesday. The French airline is also providing a flight to Martinique, every Thursday until 26 April.
Air Transat, which is increasing its service to Montreal (see below), is offering another direct long-haul destination to tempt travellers in search of something different.
Jump on a flight to Edinburgh, the Scottish capital listed as a Unesco world heritage site, on the route that Ryanair is flying again this spring (two weekly flights, on Wednesdays and Sundays).
If you're keen to stay in France, in addition to numerous existing destinations, you can visit the region of Berry, by taking the Toulouse-Châteauroux route opened by the airline IG Avion, starting from 27 March (3 flights a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays). Another recommendation: Lorient, on the shores of Brittany, with APG Airlines (5 flights a week from Monday to Friday, from 3 April).
Numerous destinations that are already in the catalogue are becoming more appealing, due to the arrival of airlines that are adding extra services:
Other airlines are adding to their existing routes departing from Toulouse:
The number of seats available for this Spring-Summer programme is up 2.1% (+160,960 seats) compared with 2017, with 7,888,381 seats for sale (249,334 seats per week on average). The increase is more noticeable on the regular international network (+4.2%). The low-cost offer is increasing (+7.6%), due to the arrival of Iberia Express and the growth of Volotea and Ryanair, to represent 41.3% of the total offering for regular flights (+2.9%). The traditional regular airlines are providing an essentially stable offering (-0.2%). This spring, the airlines will be providing 18 national and 65 international routes as regular scheduled flights; when it comes to charter flights, 16 tour-operators will be offering 23 destinations to holiday-makers.
“After the sharp increase in the number of destinations in spring 2017, this year the airlines are demonstrating their confidence in our airport and have even increased their offering,” said Jean-Michel Vernhes, Chairman of the Board of Toulouse-Blagnac Airport. “This is the sign of a vibrant travel market in Toulouse, with a substantial choice of destinations and existing routes being built upon, all of which provides more options to travel on your own terms. This summer, the Toulouse-Paris route, which is already well served, remains stable, while flights to other regions of France are increasing sharply.”
