Toulouse Blagnac Airport Expansion Projects

On Wednesday 28 June, ATB’s shareholders laid the foundation stone for the expansion of the terminal building. By 2018, the airport will have facilities adapted to cope with the growth in passenger traffic. It will also offer new services to travelers and airlines. The first works have begun.

ATB’s shareholders lay the foundation stone

The Toulouse-Blagnac Airport’s shareholders met on Wednesday 28th June to lay the foundation stone for the project initiated by Casil Europe in 2015, when it acquired a stake in the company.

A project undertaken in collaboration with the French Government, the Toulouse Chamber of Commerce and Industry and local authorities, other shareholders of ATB, to define a common vision of the future airport, for the benefit of the regional economy. The local banking players (Caisse d’Epargne of Midi-Pyrénées and Banque Populaire Occitane) were largely involved in financing the project. Similarly, several construction companies have been selected for this project, such as Socotrap, Bourdarrios or Fauché, as well as Kardham (prime contractor) and OTCE (design office).

Work began in the first quarter of 2017

Work began in the first quarter of 2017.

Two construction sites have been identified: in the north, an extension of Hall D will accommodate all the security checkpoints. It will provide access to a large shopping and dining area, which will give Toulouse airport an offer comparable to its European competitors. In the south, the construction for the extension of Hall A has been launched. This jetty will be dedicated to low-cost and regional companies, who prefer walk in-walk out boarding.

“This first stone embodies our commitment to build an even more efficient airport sized for international traffic”, said Anne-Marie Idrac, Chair of the Toulouse-Blagnac Airport Supervisory Board.

Developing the airport is a shared challenge for the benefit of all, because the competitiveness of the airport and the quality of the services it offers are all levers for the growth of the regional economy. An attractive airport contributes to the growth of local tourism by attracting foreign tour operators; it also makes it easier for local companies to develop new markets, with the opening of new routes”.

Huabing Wang, CEO of Casil Europe

An internationally-focused vision shared by Huabing Wang, CEO of Casil Europe:

“We are convinced that Toulouse-Blagnac airport has high development potential. That is why Casil Europe has become a shareholder of ATB with a project on an international scale. This ambition is shared by all the shareholders, who are also determined to enhance the attractiveness of Occitanie.

Today, this objective has become concrete: the expansion work has begun, new services will be introduced in 2018, and all this will give a new dimension to the airport. Its development will benefit the local economy by promoting exchanges with the rest of the world”.

2018

Looking forward to 2018, when the new facilities will be gradually put into operation:

  • Hall A Boarding jetty: April 2018
  • Hall D expansion / single security checkpoint / shopping area: May 2018
  • Hall C food court / check-in counters / oversized baggage: November 2018

A hotel connected to Hall A

In addition to the two terminal building sites, Toulouse-Blagnac Airport has begun construction of a 4-star hotel directly connected to Hall A.

The 148-room hotel will be marketed and operated by the NH Hotel Group and will have the best location at the airport. The hotel will have 1,000 m² of spaces dedicated to meetings, conferences and seminars, a bar, a lounge, a restaurant and a fitness centre. It will offer comfortable, functional rooms, and services tailored to the needs of travellers.

Located close to the airport’s multi-modal hub, customers will be able to reach Toulouse easily using public transport.

Opening: September 2018
